BV: What inspired you to be a doctor? To be a doctor was always your dream? Dr. Bhavi: I didn't actually dream to be a doctor.  I dreamt of becoming an architect, but life had better plans for me hence got me to design healthy lives and not spaces. I was amidst doctors as we are a family of doctors and it was my father's dream that I become one. BV: Why did you choose homeopathy over other medical systems? Dr. Bhavi: I didn't choose Homeopathy,  Homeopathy chose me. I suffered from allergic bronchitis as a child and was cured by Dr Pai, a renowned Homeopath. My uncle was a homeopath and he cured my mom of her long standing period problems so I was quite intrigued by this sweet pill science and I took up homeopathy to understand and study it better. BV: There are many myths around homeopathy in the society. Would you like to bust the myths for a few that you're aware of? Dr. Bhavi: Yes so a couple of questions keep coming to us.
  • Does Homeopathy have steroids?
It is a misconception that has been developing in the recent times. All Homoeopathic medicines are prepared by using scientific predefined methods of extracting the medicinal properties from source substances. There is no scope or need to adulterate the derived medicines with any other substances, as this would completely obliterate the curative properties of the same. Also added steroids if taken for long duration will give you puffiness, weight gain, moon face etc. If the patient has any doubts he should check the medicines from a standard laboratory before consuming any quantity. Ask for the Liberman Buchard test, thin layer chromatography method and UV absorption method. Colorimetric method (which uses tetrazolium blue salts) gives a false positive response.
  • Homeopathy slow acting.
Homeopathy is fast acting in acute cases and can be effectively used in treating infection, fevers, colds and other acute problems. Unfortunately, people tend to try homeopathy only after the acute problem has become chronic. Naturally, these cases take longer to treat. Also, most people take recourse to homeopathy in chronic cases of arthritis, allergic asthma and skin conditions which take a longer time to treat with any form of treatment. However, in acute ailments like fever, diarrhoea, acute cold, cough, etc., homeopathic remedies act as fast as conventional medicines, sometimes even faster.
  • Homeopathy is a placebo science or pseudo science.
Time and again homeopathy has proved its effectiveness on patients and in clinical trials and research. It's the second largest system of medicine and recognised by AYUSH in India. Even in the current scenario its showing some positive effects on covid. homeopathy, Dr. Bhavi Mody, bananivista Dr. Bhavi Mody BV: Can homeopathy can cure lifestyle related diseases like stress and obesity? Dr. Bhavi: Yes, Homeopathy is infact one of thd best choice for cases of stress, lifestyle disorders like PCOS Hormonal disorders, and Obesity. I have myself seen great successin treating patients of psychosomatic ailments like migraines, IBS, eczema, menstrual irregularities,  thyroid etc that have stress as the root cause. Homeopathy has shown promising results in obesity too. All these conditions need a very Holistic approach, which we advocate at Vrudhi. We believe in a Humane Approach to Holistic Healing and advise the following to help our patients #StayHealthyStayHappy
  1. Homeopathy
  2. Lifestyle changes
  3. Diet Advice
  4. Strategies for mind- body equilibrium.
To help beat the epidemic of obesity, we at Vrudhi have come up with a new initiative called Fat 2 Fit. This is a complete online program to Gain Health and Lose Weight. BV: Do you think homeopathy has restrictions on curing diseases when compared to allopathy? Dr. Bhavi: Each science has its Scope and Limitations and as a practioner one must be well aware of the same. Homeopathy has it's limitations like in surgical cases, accidents and shock one cannot resort to homeopathy. Use the science within it's scope and create healthier families. BV: As a doctor, what are your thoughts on covid-19? Will it prevail for a longer period of time or will we get a relief for some time? Dr. Bhavi: Personally from what we are seeing it's here to stay for a while and we will need to look at life with this New Normal. Covid-19 has brought a great shift and changed our lives. So social distancing, sanitizing goods, Hygiene practices all will need to be followed. This will be the new normal. We will need to learn to co exist and build Immunity. We all may get exposed to it sooner or later. So hopefully if we see a decline in the curve we can expect some relief and start to get back to routine life keeping in mind the new normal. This is the time for Accepting the Change and Adapting to it. BV: Would you like to tell us about Wibe- The women tribe? Dr. Bhavi: I also believe it's important to build your network that helps your growth journey. In my quest to find a strong platform that would help connect women entrepreneurs offline in a structured manner and provide them with skills to develop and scale their business and self, led me and my 2 friends to start a Women's only Holistic networking Growth platform. We ran a short survey where 162 women participated in the survey. 100% of women beleive that personal growth is necessary for Professional growth. 77% of women wanted a platform that provides networking opportunities along with personal growth activities, providing a holistic approach. 66.3% of women were willing to pay a fee to attend the meet up.
