She’s young, fierce, and has the tenacity to succeed in the competitive world of curated gifting. She is only 24 and has the business acumen and creativity of a well-seasoned businesswoman. Here’s more about Aanchal and her brand, Fancylicious.
BV: Tell us about you.
Aanchal: You can say I am a budding entrepreneur. I herald from a fashion design background. And now, Founder of Fancylicious, a curated gifting company. My sole reason for existence is to spread love, positivity, happiness, and joy through anything I put out into the world.
This business was never planned, nor did I dream of anything like it. I have always been passionate about event management, wedding planning, fashion photography, wardrobe consulting, and home decor. Not to miss, I’m a health enthusiast who loves to guide people towards living a healthy lifestyle. I’d take a cup of herbal tea over a beer any day.
Have a blessed festival
BV: How and why did you choose curated gifting?
Aanchal: A very drastic turn in college during my fashion show gave me a shocking blow. I was eliminated from showcasing my garments in the annual fashion show because it failed to meet ‘certain standards,’ all exaggerated if you ask me. This rude shock gave me the right viewing lens with which I was going to analyze my life. My heart and soul had been ripped and made the year extremely difficult to get through- I was questioning my career and all the added baggage that comes without having a successful one.
I wanted to make my family proud and stay independent. I started spending hours on Instagram and gazing in sheer amazement at the lovely handmade crafts that people were putting out into the world from the luxury of their home. I attended tons of exhibitions, and then it hit me, ‘I want to be a part of this world.’
No feat is easy without support from family and friends, and I had an abundance of belief and support on my side. College eliminated me, but they didn’t put out my fire and hunger for independence and creativity, that I will always have. Bringing a smile to peoples’ faces through my work is a joy incomparable to anything else.
BV: What’s the inspiration behind curating a bridal gift basket?
Aanchal: At the weddings that I have attended previously, I’ve noticed how people find it tiresome in choosing the perfect bridal gift. To simplify that, we come up with carefully curated gifting hampers that include something useful, thoughtful, and drool-worthy. We take reiki of the bride and understand her psyche through any means possible and then let the creativity unfold!
Curated Gifting
BV: How do you deal with competition?
Aanchal: Every single creator is different from the other; with their thoughts and ideas. ‘You cannot have what’s mine, and I do not want what’s yours’, is something I always say. Let’s love and support each other. We are a community of creators; we are not in a rat race.
BV: What’s your take on the perfect Christmas gift?
Aanchal: Something that warms the heart and brings in the feeling of love and a sense of cheer the minute one opens the gift. It can be anything from fine wine to cute socks! With Fancylicious, you can be the real Santa and surprise your loved ones with curated gifts that will blow their stockings off!
Spread Joy with these curated gifts
BV: Who inspires you (alive or not) to keep your head in the game?
Aanchal: Anyone who is independent and practices the qualities of kindness, generosity, and dedication towards their craft inspires me. I adore people who are grateful for every little thing in their lives; despite all the ups and downs that each one goes through. One among the many creators, Masoom Minawala is my godmother.
BV: What does the future look like for Fancylicious?
Aanchal: I want it to grow into a family with all my clients. I want to evolve the company in beautiful ways to spread happiness to a lot more people.
BV: A quote you live by:
Aanchal: “You are all you have.”
