Sudeep Nagarkar talks about his latest book
BV- Everyone knows about the Author Sudeep, how were you as a student?
Sudeep- As a student, I was pretty shy, kind of introvert one. There was a time when writing a 250 words essay was a big task for me but now even 60,000 words are not enough.
BV- When did you discover your love for writing?
Sudeep- It was in my early college days. I did not like engineering that much so I started penning down my experiences during those years. One of my friends read that diary and told me to publish. After completing my engineering and management studies, I decided to take up writing. It happened naturally.
BV- Your feelings while launching your first book?
Sudeep- Obviously, I was excited. I never wanted to be a
best seller or sell a million copies. Even today I get Goosebumps when I remember those moments. That feeling still remains unbeatable.
BV- Normally Indian parents take time to be convinced for an offbeat career option! Your take on this!
Sudeep- Indian parents can never be convinced. There will be problems. Within yourself if you believe that ‘Yes, I am doing it right and in a right way’ then you should go ahead.
BV- Did the romantic writer in you fall short of words when it was your turn?
Sudeep- Yes (with a laugh). Though I used to write letters and special messages for Jasmine that was something I was good at. To make it special, I proposed her in a hot air balloon, probably the only time when I showed my guts.

BV- What made you shift your writing genre in your latest book ‘Our Story Needs No Filter?
Sudeep- I won’t say it is a complete shift. Though my books are categorised under romance, but they aren’t hard-core romantic ones. This book has a backdrop of love and friendship, but it highlights the sensitive issue of student politics. The communists are spreading a lot of hatred in universities to meet their ends and that is what the book talks about.
BV- Something that your readers don’t know about you?
Sudeep- I love to go around and explore different places. I have the entire collection of memories with me of all book tours starting from my third book.
BV- Plot or genre for the next book?
Sudeep- Nothing as of now. But yes it will bring a smile to readers’ faces.
BV- What are the key factors for a book to be a best seller? Message for upcoming authors!
Sudeep- I think there is no recipe to write a best seller. Besides focusing on your writing, be patient. Don’t just throw away your work to a publisher who isn’t capable enough to market your books, rather wait for the right moment.
