Anusha, an artist, and an entrepreneur, runs two businesses, Wanderlust Art Boutique, the personalized, handcrafted  jewelry brand and as an Urban Garden Designer for The Green Girl Project, where she green's-up and spruces homes for a better living. From a formal education and Master's in Life Sciences to become a Biology Lecturer, she is now an artist with grace and panache for exquisitely unique taste in jewelry design. Her journey is one worth reading! Here's more from our conversation with her! BV: Walk us through your design journey! Anusha: I founded Wanderlust Art Boutique over 3 years ago. My journey of experimenting with handcrafted jewelry began way back in 2012. Whenever I stepped out to shop for jewelry, Indecisiveness always me because every jewelry piece never had all the elements I wanted. It was still like the colours were right, or the pattern was off. Mix and match was challenging. I started designing for myself based on my emotions. I branched out to making customized pieces for my colleagues and friends. It has been my passion since I was a child to get into fine arts, so I quit my lecturer job and finally took the plunge! jewelry, bananivista Daily Essentials from Wanderlust BV: What was your inspiration behind becoming a Jewellery Designer? Anusha: The first point of inspiration was my inherent passion and fire for art & design! Anything artistic gets me going! From painting and sketching to DIY, I love it all. You can say I am a creator at heart. The ultimate aspect that triggered me to become a Jewellery Designer is the individuality of each person. We are all unique, and our needs are too! The old industrial revolution fit humans into deconstructed boxes that we still haven't been able to break out of! The current generation is stuck in between leaving the box and freeing up their consciousness. I became a jewelry designer to encourage people to think outside the box and help people see beyond mass-produced products. Never settle for anything less than you're looking for! jewelry, bananivista Anusha- Founder, Wanderlust BV: What design strategy works best to invoke an emotional response from your customer? Anusha: Yes! Some pieces I fashion only for the sake of art and creative instinct, but others are meant to make customers emotionally connect to themselves and the brand via stories and moods. Especially the Ocean Collection that brings out the wanderlust craving in us all!   BV: How do you know when a jewelry design is just right or overdone? Anusha: When it comes to creating, my instincts take over. When my intuition tells me to stop, I do. It evolves, and I mull over a design and re-work on it after a couple of days, but it's instinctive. I keep away from trends and the fashion news out there. Following trends is like forcing yourself to fit into that box again. It takes away from the creative process. I am more influenced by my heart and what I am feeling in the moment. jewelry, bananivista Kissed by the Universe! BV: The devil is the details. Tell us about how intricate you can get with detailing? Anusha: The beauty is always in the details. A 12-year old or an 80-year old can make her own jewelry. Anyone can be a creator. Detailing lies in the amount you're able to observe things around you. Nature is my biggest inspiration when it comes to raw detailing in my work. Clay pigments, hand-painting, and the customized tissues for packing are my way of dedicating detail to my work! I did one custom-made Harry Potter collection for a client, and the detailing for that is one of my favourites! jewelry, bananivista Harry Potter Custom Collection BV: What's one staple piece that one can wear day and night? Anusha: The Minimalistic line from Wanderlust is something you can wear all day. The Beach Collection pendants are also great daily staples. I am a beach soul, and it resonates with my being. jewelry, bananivista Beach Vibes Necklace jewelry, bananivista An Ocean Calling! BV: How would you style someone for date night with Wanderlust essentials? Anusha: You could wear some lovely angelic and aesthetic jewelry to pair with a cocktail dress, or go playful with some abstract chunky earrings. The Cosmos and universe collection are also great date-night staples. Each piece is relatable. jewelry, bananivista A Cosmic Love Affair Pendant BV: What one lesson in jewelry making you've learned? Anusha: My biggest lesson is not to replicate another's work. I have never wanted to fit into trends, and some people try to rip off other designers' works. The best way to be successful is to follow your own creative instincts. Also, never compare yourself to anyone else or their success. Just focus on what you wish to create, and the proper appreciation for your work will follow. Never question your self-worth. BV: How do we order this exquisite jewelry? Anusha: The website: https://www.wanderlustartboutique.com/home and my Instagram handle: https://www.instagram.com/wanderlustartboutique/ BV: What's new for 2021? Anusha: A Botanical themed collection is in the design phase! A quote you live by… Anusha: Be unapologetically original and authentic!
