The words- sitar, sarod, tabla, raga, ghazal, gharana- all depict Hindustani Classical Music. Over a period of time, the Hindustani classical music has evolved and many people including non-Indians seem to take much interest. Many artists and music organizations are trying their best to preserve the culture of Hindustani Classical Music. One of the artists known for her classical music teachings is Chandrima Dutta. Her school "Harmony School of Music" organizes Barkha-Bahaar ( Celebrating the beautiful seasons of monsoon and spring through Hindustani Classical Music) every year.
What to expect in the program:
Seasonal Raags and Seasonal forms are important features of Hindustani Classical Music.
Spring and monsoon seasons signify nature rejuvenating itself from the harshness of winter and the oppressive heat of summer.
Therefore some of the most popular seasonal raags and semi-classical forms like Hori, Jhoola, Kajri are associated with Spring and Monsoon.
"BARKHA-BAHAAR" is an effort to throw some light on and create awareness about this beautiful aspect of Hindustani classical music.
