"In 2018, when we returned from Jakarta, Indonesia, the Bengaluru & India we loved soo much seemed changed. From the trees that we grew up with and the calm and also the cleanliness was suddenly not there. The plastics spew everywhere made us wonder what are we doing really? It was when we started to think about how much we are a part of the problem too. It was also the time when a video of a turtle with a straw stuck in its nose(the painful screams which we still hear, all these things changed something in us and brought us to a stage where we wanted to overturn our lives to be more ecofriendly. The journey started with making a home that was eco-friendly – we went plastic-free on our storage boxes, water bottles, started composting at home, and recycling all the grocery plastic and takeaway boxes.
When we accomplished all that, we wanted to do more. The everyday products we wanted to switch like the bamboo toothbrush was too expensive and not easily accessible. This made us think, what if we had green alternatives that could be more accessible but also affordable. This was the very foundation Dopolgy was built on, inspired by our own needs and extended to others to make it possible for more people to be aware and to choose eco-friendly products. It’s been 2 years and we are constantly evolving to understand and cater to our customers and to make this sustainable journey for them to be easier", Akshata, founder, Dopolgy expressed.

Two major challenges Akshata mentioned,
- Convincing people to choose green alternatives when there are more shiny plastic ones available. People always appreciate but think soo much to actually make that switch. Working on this is hard but got to keep doing it.
- Greenwashing is a major major hurdle, as many other brands/resellers sell things to customers at cheaper rates telling them its eco-friendly or not giving them complete information. This becomes a hurdle for the customers to trust eco businesses and come back to them.
"We overcome our challenges by never giving up. We did not choose to run an eco-business just for the profit but to actually make an impact on the society and a positive movement towards fighting the climate crisis. Our only way of overcoming challenges is to give correct information, initiate discussions, and encourage conversations", Akshata mentioned.
Eco-friendly products by Dopolgy
Dopolgy wants to bring more products made from waste. They want to work on the idea of changing the meaning of what waste is. Also hope to bring positive impacts on the environment. "We are currently working on #1000TreesProject which is our CSR campaign to plant 1000 trees which are done by earning it. We have about 3 volunteers working with us now and have reached about 260 trees to date.
This is what we want to do, not focus on just new products but also in different ways we can build a community and together work to fight the climate crisis", Akshata signed off.
