Brahmin's coffee bar
Vidyarthi Bhavan: Yet another legendary hotel holding fort since the last 75 years, Vidyarthi Bhavan in Gandhi Bazaar is known for its almost ‘iconic’ masala dosa! Set up as a quick breakfast joint for the needy students, the restaurant today has been visited by the ‘who’s who’ of politicians, movie stars and other celebrities. The taste however of the golden brown dosas that are a magical mix of rice and fermented lentils remains intact over the years. It is little wonder than that this elusive formula of the batter has remained a top secret over the decades. When you visit do click a mandatory picture of the server balancing scores of dosas on steel plates along the entire length of his arm!

MTR: An institution since 1924, Mavalli Tiffin Rooms was first started by the Maiya brothers who originally hailed from Kundapur near Udupi in Karnataka. Helmed by Yajnanarayana Maiya, the restaurant was one of the first to introduce hygiene standards including the practice of sterilizing utensils and cutlery. Going from strength to strength, the restaurant has as many as nine branches in the city. Known for their rava idlis and ghee masala dosas, MTR is a restaurant that should be on your ‘must do’ list.
