This Mother's Day spread the love by bringing your mother to Shoppers Stop and give away the saree she no longer wears. The sarees collected will be contributed to the NGO Goonj for its work with rural communities –
  • Rewear — good condition wearable saree will be sent to women to wear
  • Reuse — unwearable cotton sarees will be used for making reusable cloth sanitary pads
  • Recycle — non-usable sarees will be shredded and woven into quilts, mats and multi-purpose   reusable cloth bags
The making of these products also provides a livelihood to hundreds of women. Shoppers Stop will also be making a monetary contribution to support Goonj's work on the sarees collected for recycling. mother's day, bananivista Kashish, Shoppers Stop Uma Talreja, Customer care Associate, Chief Marketing & Customer Officer said, "Women's wardrobes have exploded into multiple options and styles, but we are all reminiscent of our mothers' sarees which gave us a lot of comfort during our childhood. All of us remember wrapping ourselves in our mothers' saree pallu and tug at it for our mother's attention and affection. This beautiful memory holds a lot of love and nostalgia for all Indians. Today, a lot of women have sarees they no longer wear. On Mother's Day, we are inviting women to donate their sarees and help the underprivileged."   Ruchika Gandhi, Leadership Team, Goonj said, "We are happy to see multiple Saree donations since unlike in cities a lot of women in villages' still wear sarees. We always have a gap in terms of sarees being contributed by cities and the huge need in the villages, so this is a very welcome step. We hope this inspires people to make it a regular practice, to give what they aren't using and still make a difference to another person."   Bringing this thought alive, Shoppers Stop pays tribute to all mothers with the new film and encourages customers to spread the love this Mother's Day by recycling their mother's saree. Customers who contribute by giving away old sarees towards this cause will get pampered with exclusive services* like photoshoots, zumba sessions, nail arts, foot massage, hair styling, masterclasses and makeovers from leading beauty brands and exciting offers in-store.
