Enjoy the Royalness at Samaroh!

Being a hardcore non-vegetarian, I always had a peculiar notion about pure vegetarian food.  Ever since my childhood, I believed vegetarian food ends up having Cottage Cheese (Paneer), Cauliflower (Gobi) and Babycorn until I stepped onto this place which is situated in Central Bangalore.

Named as “Samaroh” which means “Function” this restaurant is a place where visitors can feel no lesser than a festive gathering in a royal chamber. As one of Samaroh’s visitors, I received a warm welcome with my huge dining table decorated with multiple sachet boxes comprising of chips, fried green chilies, and three different types of chutneys, onions, diced veggies.

To quench my thirst, the “Kachi Keri Ka Sharbat” was an excellent refresher. The clear liquid having the flavor of raw mango and taste of chaat masala blended perfectly before hitting the royal food. Within minutes came the “Gulaab Boondi” onto my table which acts as a perfect sweet appetizer on the whole menu. In addition to these, the “Tamatari Shorba” was as hot as lava which was fairly paired with crispy chips.

The starters were served onto the copper plates, all ready to eat at one go. “Peeli Sarso Ka Paneer Tikka”- was as soft as marshmallows, “Tandoori Apple”, “Sandwich Dhokla” resembled flake of foam and “Subz Kaati Roll” was entirely delicious.

Enjoy the starters! Enjoy the starters!

Indian food is incomplete without chaats especially Pani Puri, a.k.a golgappas and Sev Puri. Samaroh maintained the sentiments of every Indian by delivering Samaroh Pani Puri” and Sev Batata Puri Chaat”. The Pani Puri was served along with the flavored water in a small copper pitcher which gives the independence to make your own Paani Puri. The Sev Batata Puri was no comparison with other chaats available in any other North Indian restaurants. The perfect blend of spices, sweetness, and tanginess won my heart that afternoon.

My happiness got doubled when I sensed the arrival of the main course.  The big copper plates along with small multiple bowls were placed in front of me and the food was getting delivered with the maximum speed. My plate got filled with all the delicacies straight from North India with no time. Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka Masala, Videshi Sabzi Desi Tadhka, Samaroh Kofta, Chana Palak Sarson, Dal Pakwan and Palak Raita were glittering on my copper plate. All the above curry were being served with Tandoori Roti/Fulka/Makke di Roti. Tawa Pulao/Curd Rice/Steam rice was also available to satisfy the rice lovers. I was so indulged on my plate that I could barely lift my head.

I saved room for desserts. For me, desserts are like feel-good songs and Samaroh succeeded in delivering the same feeling with their unique variety of desserts- “Kesar Pista Shrikhand”, “Rabdi Malpua”, “Kulfi” and “Akhrot Halwa”.  I cannot make a choice out of the lot. Every dessert was unique in its texture, flavor and in its aspect. Kulfi should be grabbed before it melts so that one can enjoy its every bite. The hot Malpua served with cold rabdi was crème de la crème on the whole dessert menu.
