From strangers to best friends and then business partners- Gitana Hive is backed by a strong friendship that sprouted in high school and continues to shine. A decade-old relationship that is now the soul of the chic boho brand, Gitana! Co-founder Nandita pursued Fashion Designing, while co-founder Shambhavi is a graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication. They are now entrepreneurs with the knack and will to empower themselves and everyone else! Gitana Hive is a lifestyle & home decor brand with a passion to spread awareness about the authenticity and creativity of handmade and customized, and dreamy home décor. The products exude the free spirit of two oceanic minds. It establishes the blooming culture of boho merging with a free spirit.   BV: What or who are some of your design inspirations? Nandita: Inspiration is a spontaneous burst of creativity, an integral part of any design process that makes you wander through an unexpected journey. For me, Inspiration can be anything under the sun, from a flower, a tree trunk, a vintage house, to even an old truck. Inspiration always sets the stage for creativity to follow. home decor, bananivista Wall hangings in shades of pink & white BV: What makes your brand stand out? Shambhavi: Gitana Hive has a charm and unique touch! It is the ethos and mindset behind the brand that makes it unique. Our brand creates a space of tranquillity and warmth for our customer and their freedom! The pandemic and lockdown that followed made us realize the importance of being energetic and gave us the impetus to work on our passion. Spending time at home, made us realize how vital home décor is; the home is the extension of the self. This experience was our motivation to create a Cafe like space at home. We want to communicate our perception of art and creativity with fellow millennials and access a world of boho happiness. Another aspect of Gitanahive is our enthusiasm to empower and encourage artists from all walks of life. home decor, bananivista Giving home decor a chic look BV: Who is the creative head, and who is the practical one between the two of you? Nandita: I am the Creative Head, and Shambhavi is the practical one. For instance, for a design to be executed, I will think of the color palette, the shades, the materials, and the final look. Shambhavi, on the other hand, will think of the costing, time consumption, and everything else related to the logistical part of the execution!   BV: Tell us about the company's name, what does it mean, and how did you both come up with it? Shambhavi: In 2020, Nandita and I sparked up an undying love for Spanish web series, and that's where we found the word 'Gitana", which means Gypsy in English. The Gypsy community is our Inspiration from which we create and design something wild and free. So, 'Gitana Hive' means a Gypsy House, a space that brings out the inherent happiness is within us and keeps the minds airy, windy, and spacious like you're by the great waters. home decor, bananivista Create beautiful walls with wall hangings from Gitanahive BV: How have you been marketing your new business? Nandita: Manufacturing and Marketing, together in the initial stages, always poses a challenge. For now, we are dedicated to our Social Media Marketing. We want to get onboard Direct Marketing in the future. We are working on our website, which will be out shortly.   BV: What motivates you to be creative? Shambhavi: Motivation is an integral driving factor for any entrepreneur. Nandita and I are motivated to be our creative best every day to meet our clients' needs. We are always open to Inspiration and introduce new ideas based on what drives us! This continuous thirst to be inspired is what motivates us to be creative.   BV: Any fun products up for grabs for the holidays? Nandita: Yes, most definitely! We have pom-pom wreaths, tassel banners, wall hangings, and exclusive festive frames coming up to end 2020 with some boho fun! home decor, bananivista Transform your boring living room into a stylish one BV: If you had a chance to re-do something, what would the two of you change? Shambhavi: Well, I don't think anything as such would come to my mind.   BV: A quote you both live by… Nandita & Shambhavi: 'Stay Trippy Little Hippie!'
